Daryl says his journey into motor sports started as far back as he can remember. He has always been interested in anything with wheels and a motor. Daryl has done a number of restorations over the years that he found very rewarding but once the car was finished he was on to a new project. He needed a reason for putting this much work in.
In June of 2006 Daryl attended a driving school at Gimli, Manitoba to qualify for his competition license. He participated in his first road race in August 2006 at Edmonton, Alberta. He was so impressed with the quality of the cars, the professionalism of the organizers and other drivers that he wanted to be part of this. The clincher was the commitment to road racing and support for Daryl from the other drivers from TeamSask.

In his first year of racing Daryl won the WCMA IT1 class.
He racked up 5 1st place Regional race finishes throughout the season.

Daryl attended the 2006 Winnipeg sports car club High Performance Driving Experience as a prerequisite to obtaining his WCMA competition license.

Through 2007, Daryl raced at every venue available to him, he put in the most laps of any TeamSask member! Gimli Race #1 – 1995 BMW 325IS – 2 1st, and 1 DNF

2007 was a busy year for Daryl, as well as the racing, he also took time to attend the SADA (Saskatchewan Association of Automobile Dealers) Autoshow – A charity autocross raised $1200 for Camp Easter Seals, the drivers gave ‘ride-alongs’ for $3 donation, every person attending the show(30,000+) spectated at the event.

Daryl drives a 1995 BMW 325IS in the IT1 category. His car has a stripped interior, full roll cage, and racing seat/harness. The inline six delivers enough power to allow Daryl to pull away on most straight aways, while the big, sticky tires and substantial brakes get him slowed down for the twisty bits.
